Supermarkets are already stocking hot cross buns

And we couldn't be happier!

The tinsel has barely settled and our tummies are still full from Christmas lunch, however in a delicious move to welcome in the New Year, supermarket giants Woolworths and Coles have begun selling hot cross buns. Goodbye Christmas and hello Easter!

A spokesperson for Woolies justified the release telling news.com.au “We know many of our customers love getting delicious hot cross buns as soon as they can and we see high demand immediately when they hit our shelves — with 10 million hot cross buns sold just in January last year.”

While people are divided on the somewhat early launch, most customers are hoppy (pun intended). One hot cross bun enthusiast even took to Twitter to demand that they be available year round!

The official nationwide release date for hot cross buns is January 2nd for Woolies and January 3rd for Coles.
