It’s all thanks to the the clever chicks over at the Kmart Mums Australia’s Facebook group, who’ve come up with the ingenious idea of building your own fireplace – and all you need is some $7 Kmart brick wrap, some sticky-tape, cardboard boxes and your imagination.

And look at the results! While some have simply recovered existing fireplaces with the brick wall wrap, others have gone to the effort of constructing elaborate fireplaces – some even with chimneys – to really get into the Christmas spirit.Describing how she built her fireplace, one Kmart mum revealed: ‘Nappy boxes for side pillers, base and mantle are flat pack boxes and the chimney is baby wipe boxes. But any sturdy box will do.’ Ingenious!
