If you’re anything like us, you’ve got a whole stash of CorningWare in the back of your cupboard. You know the one! The 1970s cookware often the blue floral pattern – or even the orange and yellow flowers?
Well did you know that old collection that’s busy gathering dust right now might actually be worth thousands?
Collectors say CorningWare – especially if they have rare patterns – have become highly collectable items, with one set fetching nearly $10,000 in a recent auction. WOAH.

‘Collecting is often what you remember, which is why this is big now because baby boomers are buying back what they grew up with. Boomers are decorating with these pieces in their homes.’
Dean goes on to reveal that the rarer the floral pattern, the higher the value when it comes to CorningWare collecting – so it pays to do your research.
The most common of CorningWare is the Cornflower range, featuring soft blue flowers. Less common patterns are the Wildflower, make from 1977 to 1984 – and even rarer still is the Floral Bouquet, made from 1971 to 1975.
CorningWare was a very popular wedding gift through the 70s, but lost some popularity with the release of Tupperware and other food storage containers.
But now, it seems it’s making a comeback. Dean Six advises that full collections with no cracks or chips or discolouration are obviously more attractive to buyers. But it’s worth talking to a glass expert for a valuation or trying your hand at eBay if you think you have a winning collection.
