It’s all happening on Home and Away! The time has finally come to welcome TV and film favourite Zoë Ventoura into our best-known and loved coastal town.

Safe to say, the talented star wastes no time making her presence felt as Summer Bay’s beautiful new doctor Alex Neilson. Within days of Alex’s arrival, the seemingly unflappable medico will have made quite an impression on more than one resident!
“Alex is very good at her job, she’s very competent and she has a confidence,” says Zoë. “She’s taken this position at the hospital to cover Tori’s (Penny McNamee) maternity leave.
“She arrives in what seems to be a beautiful and quiet little beachside town. Alex’s really looking forward to starting afresh in a new place, and particularly in this setting. She’s certainly ready to go and run the department.”
In no time at all, however, Jasmine (Sam Frost) has inadvertently landed herself in her new boss’ bad books.
“Unbeknown to Alex, Jasmine is very distracted by other things that are going on
in her and Robbo’s (Jake Ryan) life,” says Zoë. “Alex obviously has no idea of any of that, so she mistakes her distraction for something else. There is a bit of miscommunication and misunderstanding, and they don’t really get off on the right foot.”
As for Zoë, who was based in Los Angeles with her Australian actor husband Daniel MacPherson when she landed the pivotal Home and Away role, it’s clear that she’s been made to feel instantly at home among her new work family.
“I couldn’t have wanted a more generous, warm welcome from everybody,” she says. “They’ve welcomed me from
day one. The people working on the show – both in front of and behind the camera – are just the most beautiful people and I feel really lucky to go to work every day. It’s been a joy.”
Meanwhile, Zoë recently took time out from the show’s hectic filming schedule – jumping on a plane during a mid-year production break to head to
the other side of the world.
“I went over to Croatia,” she says, adding, “That’s where my husband is currently filming, so he’s over there at the moment.
“It’s so beautiful there, and it was just lovely to escape the winter here for a few weeks – and, of course, spend some time with him.
“It was so nice just to grab a break, get some sunshine, visit my husband, then come back refreshed and ready to work again.”
