The Fren family live out of their suitcases for the six months of the year it takes to film Travel Guides.
Which could be the reason why parents Cathy and Mark have listed their three-bedroom penthouse apartment in Newcastle, NSW for sale.

Where does the Fren family from Travel Guides live?
The sprawling inner-city property also boasts three bathrooms and a rooftop terrace offering sweeping views of Newcastle Harbour. It is expected to attract offers in the region of $2.9 to $3.15 million.
The Frens, who appear on the show with their adult children Victoria and Jonathan, purchased the property in 2013. At the time they owned the nearby restaurant Oma’s Kitchen.
“We moved in when we had our restaurant,” Mark told view.com.au. “We could just walk to the shop and we loved it because it’s just a really easy lifestyle. Once we saw this place we fell in love.”
Actually, it was the restaurant that caught Channel Nine’s eye. However, at the time, the network had them in mind for the show Hotplate.
“A producer rang me from Channel 9 and had read all our restaurant reviews on the internet and asked [if] we would audition for a restaurant competition,” Cathy told InTouch Magazine.
But instead, they were asked to audition for Nine’s new show at the time, which was Travel Guides. Now, the rest is history.
Mark told view.com.au that he and Cathy, who are both school teachers, could just “lock up and leave” the apartment, when they began filming Travel Guides in 2017.
While Mark adds that they will be sad to leave the swish pad, they have a very exciting reason for moving.

Why is the Fren family from Travel Guides moving?
“It’s getting to the stage where Jono and Victoria are both married and thinking about babies,” Mark explained. “So we thought, ‘Well, maybe we now need to move back into a house’ and that’s the only reason we are selling.”
Jonathon tied the knot in 2021 in the Hunter Valley.
“It’s the best feeling marrying my best friend and someone I want to spend forever with. I am extremely lucky to have made my first-ever girlfriend my wife,” the Travel Guides star told Woman’s Day.
His sister Victoria married her long-time friend Nathan in 2023, in Kangaroo Valley.
Speaking to Woman’s Day about their special day, Victoria also spoke about the couple’s desire for a family.
“I think we’d like one or two kids,” she explained. She added that she would “love” if her brother and his wife Dani also started a family, so their children could grow up together.
