It’s a controversial topic with strong opinions from both sides.
WATCH: OSHER’S ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE
And now Osher Gunsberg has joined the Anti-Vaxxer debate.
The Bachelor In Paradise host let his 104,000 Instagram followers know that he’s pro-vaccinations, which prompted some serious debate in his comments section.
“My 45th year on this earth is brought to you by; my toothbrush, antibiotics… and vaccines (among other things),” he captioned a photograph of himself getting an injection from a medical professional.
One Anti-Vaxxer’s response was swift. “Wow. I wish you truly knew the “devil” you are posting about,” they wrote.
Osher then explained his choice the follower. “I appreciate that there’s some very scary, very convincing things that you may have seen. The science is in, and vaccines are safe. But they told you I’d say that so it may push you further away from the actual truth,” he began.
“I’m so sorry that the things you’ve seen are so frightening. I’d be frightened too if I believed them. But I don’t because they aren’t real. They are simply not true. There are risks with anything (driving, riding a bicycle, riding a motorbike – I do all three, but not at once) and the risks of an adverse reaction to a vaccine is infinitesimal not only compared to these other things I do every day, but the risk of passing whooping cough onto my impending baby is far, far greater. And I, like you, love my kid – and I don’t want to hurt my kid, just like you – out of that want to cause no harm and out of that love, I’m getting a vaccination.”
Osher is expecting his first child with wife Audrey Griffen in August.
