Michael Jackson’s final resting place may not be where we think it is!
In fact, the King of Pop’s body was not even in the coffin at his star-studded burial service back in 2009.
“Everyone thinks Michael is buried at Forest Lawn, but he’s not,” an insider told Radar Online.
“The family has kept the secret for safety reasons and to fulfil Michael’s wishes. But Katherine (Michael’s mother) has privately revealed the truth to trusted friends.”
The source claims that the singer was cremated in an effort to thwart thieves from robbing his crypt.
“The family fought for months about what to do,” the insider explained. “Katherine was paranoid and scared someone would steal his body.”
“Michael was used to putting on a show, so the family wanted the monument at Forest Lawn because so many Hollywood legends have been buried there.”
After holding a small ceremony and entombing the empty coffin in the mausoleum, the infamous Jackson clan chose somewhere sentimental to say their final goodbyes.
“Michael’s ashes were scattered at his beloved Neverland, which was very special to him,” the source continued.
“The Giving Tree was his favourite spot on the property. He would spend hours there writing.”
The 50-year-old Thriller hit-maker died on June 25 after taking a dangerous cocktail of prescription pills.
