Brynne Edelsten has told a court that she was terrified and living in fear due to threats from her ex-boyfriend, the Herald Sun reports.
Cemre Volkan, 25, appeared in a Melbourne court on Thursday January 19, where he pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, including stalking and assaulting Edelsten.
Edelsten began dating Volkan after the breakdown of her marriage to Geoffrey Edelsten in 2014. The pair dated for almost one year before breaking up in August 2015.
Edelsten, 33, told the court that the relationship ended after she became aware that Volkan had approached media with a story abut her, which she feared would have an incriminating video of herself, the Herald Sun reports.
“It left me living in fear of it … I was terrified,” she said. “He would constantly hold it over my head.”
The subject of the video is not known.
Edelsten also told the court that their relationship was a “rollercoaster”. “It was fire and ice. It was up and down … it was very good, then very bad,” she said.
Volkan is set to reappear in court on Friday.
