Alexis Arquette, a transgender activist and actress, died on Sunday aged 47.
Arquette’s brother Richmond Arquette announced the news of his passing on Facebook.
‘Our brother Robert, who became our brother Alexis, who became our sister Alexis, who became our brother Alexis, passed this morning September 11, at 12:32 a.m, he wrote according to PEOPLE.
‘He was surrounded by all of his brothers and sisters, one of his nieces and several loved ones.’
Richmond added David Bowie’s Starman was playing he died.
‘As per his wishes, we cheered at the moment that he transitioned to another dimension.’
The cause of death is unknown.
Richmond’s agent confirmed to PEOPLE that Alexis had indeed died:
