It was meant to be a night of celebration, but Amal and George Clooney looked surprisingly stressed out as they marked five years of marriage.
The couple celebrated their wedding anniversary at 4 Charles Prime Rib in Manhattan with good friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber.
But the high profile pair looked downcast as they left their New York home and George put a protective hand out for Amal who, at one point, appeared to be crying.
When an onlooker congratulated them on their achievement, George responded by saying, “Yeah, five years, man.”
When asked what was the hardest part after five years, George gave a weary-sounding laugh without answering as the couple climbed into their waiting car. Amal looked so upset that onlookers were worried she had been dumped by the actor.

But despite this, when the couple arrived at the restaurant, they seemed to have cheered up. People reported the foursome enjoyed a long dinner, which lightened the mood.
“They enjoyed dinner for several hours. It was a happy group. They ordered a lot of food and wine. Rande treated them,” a source told the magazine.
Despite making it to the half-decade mark, divorce rumours have dogged the couple.
In 2018, Life & Style reported the pair were on the brink of a split, with an unnamed friend suggesting George often felt “trapped in a bad marriage”.
Earlier this year, Radar Online claimed Amal had fled to the couple’s Sardinian home after an “explosive argument” with her husband and that they were close to divorce – although George later denied the report.
While it’s likely their hectic work schedules cause strain, Amal and George have presented a united front sincemarrying in Italy in September 2014.
In June, George described Amal as an “incredible woman” in an interview with the Daily Mail, joking that their 2-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, take after Amal.
People’s source added, “He appreciates his life with her. They are such a beautiful couple in many ways.”
