Brad and Kylie’s black bathroom has already sparked significant controversy among fans following the premiere of The Block 2024.

From the moment we met Kylie and Brad, it became abundantly clear that the two liked the colour black.

In the couple’s introductory video, Kylie revealed that she and Brad are often asked whether they’re from Melbourne because they wear black all the time. However, as it turns out, the Cairns-based couple’s obsession with black isn’t just in clothing.

Taking the reigns when it comes to design, Kylie was very sure of what the theme of the house and the bathroom was going to be from the get-go.

“The theme that I’m going for is dark, textural, modern, predominantly black,” she said.

The first room each team is taking on is the bathroom. As Kylie headed to Reece to get supplies, she knew exactly what she needed.

“Black everything. Black toilet, black bath, black tapware, black sink, black vanity,” she said.

“Not many people do it and I’m a bit quirky and a bit weird so I feel like there’s definitely a demographic for it,” Kylie said.

“I literally cannot be the only person that is like this. It’s going to stand out.”

Instantly, fans took to X/Twitter to share their thoughts on the black bathroom Kylie and Brad have planned:

Overall, fans don’t seem to be enjoying the idea of an all black bathroom. Not only are people worried about how it would be cleaned, but they just don’t see the appeal in general and worry that there isn’t a market for this type of home.

Either way, Kylie is sure about her decision, and perhaps the final look will surprise us all!

After discovering that the bath she wanted from Reece didn’t have an overflow (a feature they needed), Kylie refused to give up and decided to shop online to find everything she needed to make her black bathroom dreams come true.

However, after seemingly finding the perfect items for the room, Brad discovered that Kylie had been working off a picture she had been shown by Reece and the scale was completely wrong. This led to the two deciding to get rid of the bath completely in order to fit the other features of the bathroom.

Though this was what had to be done, Kylie decided she was “bowing out” after the original plans for her dream bathroom continued to fall through.

“I’ve picked everything so you can just deal with getting crucified for the layout,” she told Brad.
