Eugenie made headlines around the world during her October royal wedding to Jack Brooksbank, when she wore a low-cut dress that proudly showed off her back scar, which the royal got as a result of back surgery at 12-years-old.
The surgery left the young princess with two 12-inch titanium rods in her back, and since then, Eugenie has become a passionate advocate for scoliosis.
On Sunday, Eugenie took to social media to share her personal message on International Scoliosis Awareness Day: “I have been overwhelmed by the messages of support that I have received since showing my scar on my wedding day.”
Eugenie continued: “To all of you who have just received the diagnosis, to those wearing braces, to those recovering from an operation and for those who have lived with a scar for years – My thoughts are with you on Scoliosis Awareness Day. And to the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and researchers – Thank You.”
Floods of fans swarmed the comment section to commend Eguenie on her important message, with Victoria’s Secret model Martha Hunt, writing: “Thank you for your support! You can’t even realize how much you are helping change the perception of scoliosis worldwide and legitimizing efforts even within the medical community.
“We are all grateful for your advocacy!”
Amen to that!
