Diana, Princess of Wales, who would have celebrated her 58th birthday on July 1, passed away on August 31, 1997 after a Paris car crash.
But the late mother of Prince William and Prince Harry, who she shared with her ex husband, Prince Charles, was known for doting on her children – so it makes sense that she’d have treated her grandchildren with the same tenderness, too.
Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, has three children with his wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and baby Prince Louis, 1.
While Diana’s youngest son, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and his wife Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, had their first child, Archie Harrison, on May 6.
But according the Daily Mail, Diana would have had a special bond with William’s daughter, Charlotte.
Princess Diana’s former press secretary Dickie Arbiter told the Daily Mail that she always wanted a daughter, and would have adored Charlotte more than her other grandchildren for that reason.
He added that she would have loved being a grandmother and “She would have spoiled them all rotten.”
Dickie told the Daily Mail: “She would have loved being a grandmother and particularly would have doted on Charlotte because she always wanted a daughter and that wasn’t to be.
“She was great with children and would have been an absolutely brilliant grandmother.
“She would have been there all the time, she would have spoiled them rotten.
“She would have been very hands-on with the grandchildren.”
