While several media outlets were reporting the reason for the delay being the scandal involving her father Prince Andrew’s friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, it actually came down to royal protocol.

Queen Elizabeth is required to be informed of proposed wedding dates and must give her blessing, and now a new report claims Her Majesty has done just that.

The Daily Mail says that Queen Elizabeth has given the pair the green light to announce their June wedding date – as long as it doesn’t clash with Royal Ascot.

“Bea and Edo will finally announce their wedding date in the second week of January. The date has been described as “early summer”, just before the summer social season kicks off,” revealed an insider close to the couple.

The source went on to reveal that friends expected Bea to walk down the aisle at The Guards Chapel, but that idea has been axed.

“Only three weeks ago, friends were expecting to watch Bea walk down the aisle at The Guards Chapel, but that location is now looking unlikely.

“Poor Beatrice – this wedding seems impossible to cement. At least she’s got a date at last, and has found a window to announce it, once the opening of Parliament, Christmas and New Year are over.”

Meanwhile royal experts claim that Beatrice and her financier beau will privatise their impending wedding following the recent drama with her father.

“Beatrice’s wedding will be collateral damage. I will not be surprised if she has a rather quiet wedding, out of the public eye, with a few photos, no live coverage,” tweeted royal expert and author Marlene Koenig.

“This will be better than an announcement that they have decided to postpone marriage.”
