Meghan Markle and her new grandmother-in-law have embarked on an overnight train journey together, for an official event in Cheshire on Thursday morning.
Kensington Palace tweeted, ‘The Duchess of Sussex arrives in Cheshire, where she is accompanying Her Majesty The Queen for a day of engagements today #RoyalVisitCheshire‘, alongside a sweet snap of the pair.

The Duchess of Sussex has not only made her first solo outing without new husband Prince Harry, but has also made history.
Meghan is the first royal of the younger generation, including Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry, to ride along with Her Majesty on the royal train for an official event.
The train has been dubbed a ‘palace on wheels’ and the features an office, sleeping quarters and dining areas.

Kensington Palace has said the Queen and the Duchess of Sussex will arrive early on Thursday morning at Runcorn Station to carry out a series of royal engagements.
According to the official Royal family website, the Queen will open the Mersey Gateway Bridge with Meghan.
They will also officially open Storyhouse Theatre in Hunter Street and attend a lunch at Chester Town Hall together.
The train ride, which left from London, will give Her Majesty and new granddaughter-in-law the perfect opportunity for some bonding time.
Brian Hoey, author of At Home With the Queen, writes: ‘The train seems to be the one place where, when away from home, the Queen and her family can truly relax out of the public gaze.’
‘It may not have quite the same romantic images as when Queen Victoria rolled in majestic style from Windsor to Balmoral, insisting that the driver never exceeded 30 miles an hour, but there remains some of the glamour of bygone days.’
Hoey adds, ‘When jet travel has in most cases reduced the longest journeys to a single day, Prince Charles says he gains a lot of pleasure just looking out of the window at the countryside of Britain passing by.’
