Meghan Markle is set to break royal tradition by opting for a home birth – but husband Prince Harry is not convinced.
In Touch reports that the Duchess of Sussex wants to be “around familiar surroundings” when she gives birth to their first child, which is due in the spring.
“Meghan’s looking into a home birth,” revealed the source, adding: “she’s a bit of a hippie at heart”
“She likes the idea of being in the comfort of familiar surroundings and having the freedom to control the birthing process.
Meanwhile Harry is said to be pushing the idea of sticking to tradition and giving birth at the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, like sister-in-law Kate and mum Diana.
‘He thinks it is much more practical to have a baby in a good hospital,’ added the source.
A previous report by Vanity Fait claims the former Suits star is looking into the practice of “hypnobirthing”, which involves using a mixture of visualisation, relaxation and deep breathing techniques.
According to the report, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland – who is reportedly moving to the UK to be closer to Meghan – has played a big part in her decision.
“(Doria) wants to be on hand to help Meghan and Harry with the baby,” a source told the magazine.
“Doria will be involved and if she’s involved she will be encouraging Meg to go for a natural birth.”
