Boasting that the show aims to ‘champion Australia around the world’, Preston on air with Kyle Sandilands, who referenced Calombaris’ axing from a WA tourism campaign in the wake of the scandal.

‘I suppose you won’t be doing WA Week now that they’ve dropped old mate?’ Kyle quipped. ‘It’ll be SA Week next year?’

Sidestepping the reference, Preston stepped gracefully away from being drawn into the drama.

‘You know we try and find different places to inspire the contestants,’ he said.

‘That’s the most important thing, and we tend not to go back to the same place twice.’

The Fair Work Commission has fined Calombaris $200,000 for underpaying 515 staff to the tune of $7.83million between 2011 and 2017.
