Politics can be a dull sport but sometimes a story comes along that makes the entire nation lose their mind.
For example, the news this week that Scott Morrison secretly appointed himself to every ministry position he could think of.

Ok, fine. It wasn’t all of them but, my god, it was a lot.
Ol’ Scotty appointed himself into five ministry positions, without telling the Australian public or most of his own cabinet.
The ABC reports that between March this year and the election in May, Scomo had been appointed as minister of health, finance, treasury, home affairs and into the portfolio of industry, science, energy and resources.

Now, Morrison insists he didn’t use the powers that came with these portfolios (other than to block an offshore gas exploration permit). His explanation for doing it was to safeguard the government if a minister was to fall ill with COVID-19.
He also felt he shouldn’t inform the Australian public because that might make them panic… or something.
Regardless as to whether you agree with the move, it’s all a little baffling.
