Julia Roberts and Richard Gere have set tongues wagging after enjoying a string of intimate dinner dates.
It’s no secret that the Hollywood golden couple, whose electric chemistry made them one of the most celebrated movie pairings ever, have enjoyed a firm friendship for years.
And now insiders believe the long-time friends have become closer than ever. In fact, Hollywood sources are speculating that the pair are secretly plotting a Pretty Woman sequel!
A second movie would not only be a sure-fire box office hit, but would also be the perfect excuse to spend even more time together.
‘Julia and Richard are undeniably attracted to each other and have been for many years,’ a friend of the couple tells New Idea exclusively.
‘They have similar outlooks on life and have built an extremely solid friendship that’s only got stronger over the years.
‘They’ve always been there for each other in times of trouble, and that includes when they’ve each had their marital difficulties.’
While Julia, 49, and Richard, 67, have always been friendly, sources say their bond intensified when they met up in 2015 to promote the 25th anniversary of Pretty Woman.
At the time, Julia’s romance with husband Danny Moder was on shaky ground, while Richard had just started dating stunning 34-year-old Spanish publicist Alejandra Silva, who is 33 years his junior.
‘They connected in a major way and poured their hearts out to each other over cosy dinners for the best part of a week,’ an insider reveals.
‘Julia has always said Richard’s one of the nicest, most compassionate guys she’s ever met. But until that point, she’d never realised just how soulful and deep he is – and she finds that intensely attractive.’
The source added: ‘For all the beautiful women he’s met in his life, nobody’s ever come close to Julia. [Richard] finds her smile magnetic and she has this wicked sense of humour that has him in stitches whenever they hang out.
‘Ever since the 25-year reunion they’ve stayed in touch pretty much nonstop, offering advice when the other is going through a tough time romantically, as well as catching up on everyday things and discussing ways they could work together again.’
