Because (surprise) hot pink lipstick is pretty on everyone!

She was one of five hosts for the 2019 Met Gala, but let’s face it, Lady Gaga was the true star of the night and from the second she arrived. The entertainer swept into the event wearing a fuchsia gown with a train so long it took five handsome men in black to wrangle it.

Gaga, 33, sported an over-sized bow on the top of her head and wielded a black umbrella as did her devastatingly chic entourage. When she reached the Met Gala staircase she stopped and fluttered her incredibly faux lashes at the gathered crowd of screaming fans and photographers.

Much to everyone’s astonishment, her attendants then surrounded her before helping her step out of her long-sleeved, full-trained gown to reveal a stunning black gown with an asymmetrical strapless bodice and a side bustle.

It was quite the move and as such, will go down in Met Gala history, but so will Lady Gaga’s epic beauty look.

Her lashes, created by her long-time makeup artist and friend Sarah Tanno, were nothing less than astonishing. Gold, silver and with both feathers and crystals attached, these were the things that legends are made of.

Not too many of us have the opportunity to sport such fabulousness. But, we can all consider wearing a bright pink lipstick such as Gaga did on the night.

Interestingly, this is a shade that looks good on just about everyone. All it takes is the self-belief and a touch of chutzpah and hey presto – you’re wearing hot pink and looking stunning.

Sarah Tanno took to Instagram to reveal the exact lip products she used to make this perfect pout happen. Are you ready? Here’s what she used … and where you can get it!

First up she applied Le Marc Liquid Lip Crayon in Flaming-Oh!, $43. This clever product is a liquid lipstick in the form of a creamy crayon.

It makes no sense we know, but that is the truth! It melts into lips with a lightweight liquid sensation while providing powerful one-swipe colour. It also has something its creators call ‘ghost pearl’ – basically a slight iridescence that gives the matte look a sort of three-dimensional sheen.

Next, Sarah applied a light coat of Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick in Sweet Escape, $42, over the top. This is a lip colour that adds colour but more importantly incredible mirror-like shine.

And boy did Gaga rock that look.

But as per before, the super surprising thing about hot pink, fuchsia-like lip shades, is they look truly lovely on pretty much all of us. So please, if you’ve never considered giving this pretty pretty hue a try before I beg of you – do it – and do it now.

I’ll wager you’ll get one very pleasant surprise. And who knows – perhaps it will be you sashaying down the street with a coterie of good-looking men in black tie next time!
