He’s a major celebrity stylist – famous in his own right – but David Babaii is even better known as the hair guru of choice for actress Kate Hudson.

And David has been her personal stylist for as long as anyone can remember – well almost anyway.

He became her stylist when a mutual friend asked him if he might like to style Kate’s hair for a premiere. His answer – ‘Who is Kate Hudson?’.

Like we said, it was a long time back. As in before anyone had really heard of the bubbly blonde actress.

David agreed and the rest, as they say, is history.

He styled Kate’s hair for that premiere and has done so for pretty much every premiere ever since. One thing you might not know is that before that first premiere way back when, David’s luggage, including all of his hair styling kit, was lost on his flight.

And so he styled Kate’s hair with an organic deodorant and a hotel hair dryer. And it looked STUNNING. Lesson for us via David – make do with what you have and then just own it. It’s all in the attitude, he says. And who are we to argue?

David was at hand when Kate was to play a character in a film in which she had a buzz cut.

Initially the actress was going to wear a wig but David talked her out of it. “I told her, If you’re going to do it, just shave it off for real – it’s a fresh, clean start,” he told RUE Now. David went onto explain that Kate shaved her head herself. Lesson for us – be fearless. It’s your hair after all.

David and Kate are close. They know one another well and accordingly know what one another likes. And both of them like to keep things as simple as is possible – a credo the rest of us would be well worth taking on board.

Hair can make or break your look, but you don’t want to spend hours on it either. David, who has his own range n.p beautiful, recommends we grow it to a length we love and that requires little to no maintenance. That way we can hop out of the shower, let our locks air dry and then be on our way. It might not look as sleek as a two-hour blow out but it will look natural and what’s more beautiful than that?
