How to apply magnetic lashes

And more importantly - should you bother?
Loading the player...

Magnetic lashes arrived on the scene some months back and boy did we celebrate. Hurrah! Perfect, long, curled, beautiful natural-looking lashes that we could pop on and slide off – just like that. Only that’s not what magnetic lashes really brought to the table. At least not in my experience …

Yes – they were amazing when applied by a professional makeup artist or a lash pro, but otherwise, not so much.

But before we get into the nitty gritty details of my own experience, let’s consider exactly what magnetic lashes are and how they work.

Think of them like this.

Magnetic lashes are much like a regular faux strip lash except with teeny magnets dotted along the lash line. Then, a matching faux lash that you place underneath so that it connects to the first lash. Makes sense yes?

In theory, the magnets would snap together and hey presto – perfect faux lashes.

But in my experience this NEVER happens.

What does happen, (to me anyway – and like I say, maybe other people have ace experiences), is the magnets find one another long before you want them to and OMG they’re on, but also hanging off at a mad, crazy angle and wow I look very, very odd. Like capital letters ODD.

So, as per above, perhaps I am just very, very hopeless. But I have tried and tried and tried and never managed to make them work.

So what can I say – in theory they work beautifully – a full, lush lash that has magnets attached and a second lash that connects to it. But in reality? Not so much.

Of course, I also need to say I’d be delighted to hear from anyone who can make these babies work and also, teach me how.

In the meantime, I recommend you opt instead for a lash curler (for beautiful, open, sexy lashes) and one very high quality mascara in the blackest black you can find.
