The 25-year-old who suffered catastrophic burns to 96 per cent of her body in a bus crash six years ago has signed up with beauty company Avon. Catrin will be one of the faces promoting the group’s latest makeup collection.

Catrin’s involvement came about after the beauty giant signed up with Changing Faces, a charity that provides support and advice to those with visible differences. Avon says it wanted to work with Changing Faces so that it could bring more diversity to its advertising campaigns.

Catrin is an ambassador the charity.

She became an ambassador for Changing Faces after a bus crash in the Swiss Alps saw her suffer burns to her entire body, aside from the soles of her feet.

Catrin was given a one in one thousand chance of survival but the plucky Brit pulled through. She has since gone on to become a popular public speaker and advocate for those who do not look just like everybody else.

She is delighted to be appearing in a beauty campaign.

“I’m so excited to be working with Avon on this project. To be a part of a beauty campaign that challenges traditional beauty stereotypes, and the stigma around ‘looking different’ is so refreshing,” Catrin was quoted as saying in the Independent.

“I hope that it will open the eyes of people in the beauty and fashion industries, and society in general, that we should be championing a diverse range of role models, especially for young people. I hope to inspire others to embrace their appearance, no matter what you look like.”

Catrin posted about the campaign on her Instagram account and her fans were thrilled for her.

“Amazing. So so proud of you. You look absolutely beautiful,” wrote one.

“This is fantastic,” posted another.

The campaign forms part of Avon’s new global initiative, Stand4her, which aims to improve the lives of 100 million women each year.

The beauty giant made the pledge after its research showed that 80 per cent of women claim to feel pressure to be perfect while a full 60 per cent feel expected to meet a certain beauty standard.
