UPDATE: Run don’t walk – Aldi’s cult item of 2019 is BACK on shelves. After selling out in record time, Halloumi Fries have returned to Aldi stores around the country TODAY.
Spotted by Aldi Lovers Australia, they write on their Facebook page: ‘Community Service Announcement. Halloumi fries are BACK! A couple of tips with these: Don’t over cook them. And eat them straight out of the oven. If they sit too long they get really dry and tough. Others love them in the air fryer ⭐️⭐️’
Yessssss! You’re going to want to get in quick before they sell out before your eyes. Run don’t walk!
EARLIER: When ALDI brought out their Crispy Haloumi Fries in the UK, they became SO popular that the supermarket was forced limit sales to two packs per customer. Well now the ALDI Halloumi Fries frenzy looks set to hit Aussie shores, with the supermarket giant releasing the snack in local stores. And the reaction has already been crazy, with shoppers all over the country lining up to buy the cult $5 fries. Instagram group Aldi Lovers Australia first announced the Crispy Halloumi Fries’ long-awaited arrival Down Under, sharing a pic of the snack and the caption: ‘Stop the press! Crispy Halloumi Fries have been spotted in Aldi.’The post prompted hundreds of ALDI shoppers to jump for joy, with many replying ‘FINALLY!’Said another: ‘Going to ALDI right now!’The fries are currently only available in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australian stores – but will reportedly be landing in other states soon. There’s no word on whether ALDI Australia will be forced to follow the UK’s example of limiting sales. The move was brought about thanks to a massive surge in popularity, prompting many stores to sell out.‘I can confirm that as of now Halloumi Hries are being limited in stores to two boxes per person. This is to ensure that all customers have the chance to try this popular product for themselves,’ a spokeswoman for UK ALDI said at the time. But not wanting to be left behind in the Halloumi Fries worldwide frenzy, Coles have also announced they will now stock a version of the snack too. Halloumi Chips are now on sale in Coles – but are they as good as the ALDI ones? You be the judge!
