It’s the 2-ingredient Aldi cake recipe that mums all across Australia are talking about – and we can see why!The clever budget baking hack has been all the talk of home bakers across Facebook, with one fan saying that she’ll ‘never made cake any other way again.’
The simple recipe involves mixing Aldi’s packet cake mix with a can of tinned fruit – try apple, pineapple or even fruit salad – with no other ingredients, then baking for around 40 minutes in a 160c oven until golden brown.
It’s that easy!
One mum recently took to the Aldi Mums Facebook group to share how she took the recipe to the next level, adding two more ingredients – cinnamon and custard. And the end result is a cracker!
Sharing her amazing recipe on Aldi Mums, Justine writes: ‘After seeing a lot about the ‘2 Ingredient Cake’ and reading everyone’s hot tips I had to try it.‘It’s AMAZING!! And so easy. I won’t buy cake again if I’ve got the time to cook this.’Revealing that she used the Aldi Butter Cake Mix, a tin of Aldi tinned apples, cinnamon and a layer of cold custard, Justine shared her simple method. She writes: ‘I chopped and DRAINED the tinned apples, mixed cinnamon into apples, mixed apples with cake mix. Justine then ‘sprayed tin edges with baking spray from Aldi, put half batter in tin, [then added a]thin layer of cold custard I had leftover in fridge.’She then added in the rest of the cake batter to the tin, sprinkled a little cinnamon on top before baking in a 160c fan-forced oven for 40 minutes. And that’s it! Adds Justine: ‘Delicious 🤤 and so cheap.Looking forward to trying other fruits and possibly adding a crumble to the top.’Thanks to the mums on this page for sharing!!’Therecipe was a huge hit with other mums online.‘Ermmmm delicious. I’m making this next shop.’ said one. Added another: So pop custard between raw layers? This looks delish! Can’t wait to try. Thanks for sharing. I love a good baking hack 👍’Said a third: ‘There goes my diet!’We hear you!
