A: Yes, you can freeze coconut cream for up to two months and refrigerate for five days. Coconut cream is made of almost 25 per cent fat and is thicker and more concentrated than coconut milk. It is often used in soup, desserts and marinades but when you’ve got some leftover never fear there are lots of things you can do to save it.

How to freeze coconut cream

There’s nothing worse than only using half a tin in your recipe and not knowing what to do with the rest of that coconutty goodness. First up, we have some delicious recipes (below) for you to try otherwise it is safe to store coconut cream in the fridge for five days. If you don’t think you’ll get through your coconut cream in then simply place your coconut cream in an airtight container and freeze for up to two months. For an even handier alternative pour your leftover cream into an ice cube tray so you can defrost the portion you need.

Freezing coconut cream won’t have too many adverse effects on the integrity of your coconut cream. If you freeze it in an airtight container be sure to label it correctly so that you have the right quantity ready for your next recipe.

What’s the difference between coconut milk and coconut cream?

The main difference between coconut milk and coconut cream is the concentration of coconut flesh, coconut cream is thicker and richer than coconut milk. Not only that but it is rich in colours and fat with 50 calories and 5.2g of fat per tbsp whereas coconut milk has 35 calories and 3.6g of fat. If you’re out of coconut milk you can simply mix 2 tablespoons of coconut cream in ¾ of water to create your own at home.
