The Floor is returning to our screens for season two – and this time we’re set to welcome a very familiar face.
Travel Guides star Kevin Moloney has taken on the challenge to compete against 80 other contestants on their topic of expertise to be in the chance of winning the $200,000 grand prize.
He announced his involvement via an Instagram collaborative post with his talent management agency Lime Agency.
“Guess who’s stepping onto The Floor…” the post reads.
“Our Travel Guide Kevin Moloney @jetandkevin is officially joining Season 2 of The Floor on @channel9. Get ready to play!”
Fans were quick to jump to the comments to wish the travel critic luck.
“Good luck Kevin your knowledge will hold you in good stead,” one fan wrote.
Kevin isn’t the first celebrity to make an appearance on The Floor – last year, 2019 Married at First Sight alum Jules Robinson and Masterchef alum Amina Elshafei took on the challenge.
We can only hope for his sake that his chosen topic is ‘travel’ – he’d certainly have an advantage!
How does The Floor work?
Host Rodger Corser is back to lead a new group of 81 Australians as they put their minds to the test to win the ultimate prize of $200,000.
Each contestant begins the game with one tile on the floor, which represents their subject of expertise, and they must win their neighbours’ tiles in a bid to come out on top.
However, the competition will be “tougher” and “more ruthless” this time around, with Nine announcing a new game called ‘The Freeze’.
“The core of the game remains: each contestant defends their tile of expertise, challenging their neighbours to winner-takes-all trivia duels to seize control of The Floor,” a press release teased.
“With fresh contestants, brand-new subjects, and unexpected twists, the game has been elevated to a whole new level.”
Who is Kevin Moloney?
Kevin, 67, has been a staple on Travel Guides for ten seasons.
He stars on the show with his wife Janetta Stones – whom he shares a love for travel with.
In fact, the pair met while working for an airline – Trans Australia Airlines – which has now merged with Qantas.
But – travel isn’t the only thing Kevin is good at.
Speaking with New Idea last year, Kevin revealed that he’s got a secret past as a successful author.
Is Travel Guides coming back in 2026?
It absolutely is!
Filming for the 2026 season of Travel Guides wrapped in January this year.
According to Channel Nine, the teams are set to visit a string of locations around Australia and the rest of the globe.
Viewers will be able to enjoy some exciting adventures in Ireland, Tanzania’s Serengeti, and Rio de Janeiro – and one team will even put on their Akubras for the Mount Isa rodeo Down Under.
Channel Nine has not yet confirmed when the 2026 series will arrive on screen.
