Seven Year Switch’s Ryan and Cass shared an image on social media ‘empowering all parents who have children with anxiety.’
The couple shared a picture of their ten-year-old daughter with the text, ‘Anxiety hides behind the most beautiful smiles’. Alongside the picture they shared their story.
‘Our eldest daughter, 10, suffers from severe anxiety,’ they wrote.
The parents first noticed changes in their daughter earlier this year.
‘She started becoming reclusive, stopped engaging in her usual activities outside and with friends, she cried at the thought of going to school and the physical effects of anxiety took over,’ they said.
Adding, ‘She was nauseous and had pains in her tummy daily, she refused to eat certain foods for fear she would get sick, she lost so much weight on her already tiny frame and became overly sensitive and emotional.’
The concerned parents say they were lucky they picked up the warning signs early and get their daughter the help she needs.
‘We are still working with her daily to help her through this time.’
The reality TV stars hope that sharing their story helps other parents who are going through a similar situation.
‘Parenting is hard enough but then add in the curve balls and sometimes it just feels impossible and as though you are failing,’ they wrote.
‘Just remember you are never alone on this journey, we all have our individual experiences and can help one another when needed.’
