A former 60 Minutes journalist who lost her job after she was fined for drink driving has her case overruled in court.
Rebecca Le Tourneau was charged with drink driving in June, after she returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.059 per cent.
As a result, the award-winning journalist was fined and given a three-month driving suspension.
However, the ruling was overturned, after her lawyer argued Channel 9 wanted to distance themselves from Le Tourneau after the highly publicised botched attempted kidnapping of Australian mother Sally Faulkner’s two children
‘This case received a great deal of press. [60 Minutes] had just gone through the aborted abduction event and as a result of that she was relieved of her position and no longer works at Channel Nine,’ barrister William Barber said according to the Daily Telegraph.
‘It is a very unfortunate circumstance but the publicity of that abduction led to her [Le Tourneau] losing her position,’ he added.
However, the Daily Mail reports, Le Torneau was already being investigated for another scandal which involved exposing herself on a flight from Sydney to New York before the kidnapping scandal.
