The sporting power couple have been together since 2020 and went public with their relationship a year later. Sam, 30, has openly spoken about her love for Kristie, 32, revealing they are each other’s biggest cheerleaders.
“I don’t think you could be in a long-distance relationship with someone who didn’t get the sport,” Sam has said.
The whole of Australia fell in love with Sam Kerr when the FIFA Women's World Cup kicked off in July 2023. Sam may not have won the World Cup, but she sure won in Australia's hearts! And her partner, Kristie Mewis, couldn't have been prouder.
Kristie, who plays for the US women's soccer team, was eliminated from the World Cup. But she stayed on to support her girlfriend of two years.
The athlete shared a post on Instagram following the US elimination, thanking her friends, family, and fans for their support. Even through her own professional heartbreak, Kristie took the time to shout out Sam's incredible performance on the Matildas.
"It’s also pretty cool getting to watch my best friend live her dream," she wrote.
"Thank you babe for always being my everything every step of the way and I’m so proud of you and thankful for you."

How did Sam Kerr meet Kristie Mewis?
Their romantic relationship sure does have a memorable origin story! After playing each other on the field a few times, the pair struck up a virtual romance during COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020.
After chatting online for two weeks they bit the bullet and spent two weeks in quarantine together.
"We had to spend two weeks together. I was thinking, 'If I don't like her this is going to be awkward'," Kerr told Gaffer Magazine earlier this year.
The next year, they were officially photographed together at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
An "enemies-to-lovers" romance came to life, as even though Team USA won the Bronze in female football... their star player Kristie wasn't celebrating with her team, instead she was consoling her Australian rival, Sam.

A week after the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in August, they became Instagram official by posting a polaroid photo kissing. Sam simply captioned the snap with a red love heart emoji, letting fans know her heart belonged to Kristie!
The couple have been in a relationship for two years now and are still going strong. Though they've kept relatively lowkey about their relationship, Sam did reveal that Kristie was "worth the wait" in a sweet Instagram post before the world cup.
