Matildas star striker Samantha Kerr has shared a heartwarming tribute to her fiancee Kirstie Mewis for her 33rd birthday.
Sharing a carousel of sweet snaps to her Instagram on the day, Sam simply wrote “Happy birthday to my love. No one keeps me more entertained than you ❤️.”
Kirstie responded with an equally adoring comment, penning, “Thank you baby ❤ love you so much x”
The couple have been enjoying a romantic time together in Paris to mark the occassion.

Their European getaway comes almost two months after the soccer players celebrated their engagement with a party on New Year’s Eve in a double celebration.
The loved-up couple posted many photos to Instagram of them enjoying their day at The Raffles Hotel in Applecross.

At the party, Sam delivered a short speech saying that she couldn’t wait to tie the knot.
“It is great to celebrate all of us, family, friends, everyone. Thanks everyone, we can’t wait for the wedding,” she said.
But just days later, the talented forward, who plays for Chelsea in the UK, suffered a devastating injury that will almost certainly rule her out of competing with the Matildas at the Paris Olympics later this year.
Despite the catastrophic turn of events, New Idea’s insider source says gusty Sam is determined to bounce back from the injury and will use the time recovering to focus on a huge positive in her life – her upcoming wedding.
“Sam wants a beach wedding. She loves Miama in Floria or she might still convince Kristie to host their big day on WA’s Rottnest Island, which was Sam’s childhood holiday spot,” our source shared at the time.
In December 2023, Kirstie revealed that she was starting a new life in the United Kingdom with Sam.
The couple, who became engaged in September 2023 following the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, were previously living in different countries, Kristie contracted to Gotham FC in the USA, and Sam to Chelsea in the UK.
But now, Kristie has joined West Ham in the Women’s Super League in an effort to be closer to her future wife.
Whilst the move is no doubt exciting for the lovebirds who will now be based in London together, both Sam and Kristie will once again have to play against each other as their teams attempt to win the league in 2024.
The Athletic first broke the news, confirming that Kristie would be West Ham’s first signing of the January transfer window.
The news came just weeks after the lovebirds confirmed they were happily engaged.
The big reveal followed on from weeks of hints and clues. Not to mention, a telling interview with People Magazine.
Kristie shared the happy news with PEOPLE on November 10, 2023, referring to Sam as her “everything.”
“[She’s] my biggest supporter, always listening to me nag and complain all, all of my crazy antics,” she said of her fiancee.

Fans and teammates alike ran to the comments once they saw the gold-encrusted diamond ring.

Kristie’s American teammate, Catarina Macario, supported the couple with a string of emojis.
The sporting power couple have been together since 2020 and went public with their relationship a year later. Sam has openly spoken about her love for Kristie, revealing they are each other’s biggest cheerleaders.
“I don’t think you could be in a long-distance relationship with someone who didn’t get the sport,” Sam has said.
In the Netflix docuseries “Under Pressure” which followed the US. Women’s Soccer team at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Kristie described her fiancee as the “best person ever.”
“I feel like everybody says that about their partner, but I just feel so lucky that she likes me.”

Their romantic relationship sure does have a memorable origin story! After playing each other on the field a few times, the pair struck up a virtual romance during COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020.
After chatting online for two weeks they bit the bullet and spent two weeks in quarantine together.
“We had to spend two weeks together. I was thinking, ‘If I don’t like her this is going to be awkward’,” Kerr told Gaffer Magazine in early 2023.
The next year, they were officially photographed together at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
An “enemies-to-lovers” romance came to life, as even though Team USA won the Bronze in female football… their star player Kristie wasn’t celebrating with her team, instead she was consoling her Australian rival, Sam.

A week after the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in August, they became Instagram official by posting a polaroid photo kissing.
Sam simply captioned the snap with a red love heart emoji, letting fans know her heart belonged to Kristie!
The couple have been in a relationship for two years now and are still going strong.
Though they’ve kept relatively lowkey about their relationship, Sam did reveal that Kristie was “worth the wait” in a sweet Instagram post before the world cup.
“It’s also pretty cool getting to watch my best friend live her dream,” she wrote.
“Thank you babe for always being my everything every step of the way and I’m so proud of you and thankful for you.”
