Almost four years after she vanished from local authorities, a Melissa Caddick-lookalike has been spotted alive and well in Bali’s south.
The woman was seen chatting to patrons at a well-known beach bar in Seminyak, nearly 4700 kilometres away from where a foot that matched Caddick’s DNA washed up on the NSW South Coast in 2021.
The coroner declared her dead last year.

Online reports of Caddick’s lookalike were shared by a woman whose friend had seen her at the beachfront restaurant.
“She met a lady at Potato Head Beach Club that was a spitting image of her, but she was wearing a long sarong and had a limp,” they said. “To me that seems like a high chance it could be [Melissa Caddick].”
The post, which was shared on the ‘Melissa Caddick Discussion Group Alive and in Hiding’ Facebook page, also featured replies from people with their own theories.
“Bali would be one of the easiest places to get access to, she could get there by boat,” one said.
Another wrote: “[I’ve] seen her there many times … especially in Kuta. [It] really was her – a charming lady even though she ripped a few people off.”

However, some people questioned why the poster’s friend didn’t contact police.
“Did you alert any form of authority or [were you] too hesitant?” one member of the group asked.
Whether Caddick was spotted in Bali or not, it’s clear the post reflects a wider sentiment of Australians who continue to speculate whether she is alive and in hiding.
The Facebook group, which has nearly 9500 followers, is just one of multiple forums dedicated to finding out what really happened to Caddick.

The notorious fraudster disappeared in November 2020 after her $23 million Ponzi scheme was discovered by authorities.
She had stolen the money from her family members and clients while posing as a financial adviser.
On November 12, 2020, Caddick, aged 49, vanished without a trace just hours after Australian Securities and Investments Commission agents raided her Sydney home.
She was declared dead by a coronial inquest in May 2023. However, the inquest noted there wasn’t enough evidence to determine how she died.
