Karl Stefanovic’s ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn looked stunning as she stepped out on the red carpet in the week their divorce was finalised.
It’s the first time journalist Cass has attended a celebrity event since the couple’s shock split in December last year, and she was eager to celebrate her new found freedom.
The 44-year-old told friends her divorce from the Today star was due to be finalised last week and she was delighted the long ordeal was over at last.
Certainly, the mother-of-three looked radiant, posing for photpgraphers in a stylish pink dress at the Women Of The Future Awards in Sydney last Wednesday – although she was careful to avoid her former friend and Karl’s co-host Lisa Wilkinson.
‘Cassie just wants to move on with her life now the divorce is finalised,’ a source told New Idea. ‘She has a new home and is focused on making the children as happy and settled as possible.’
Before they split, Cass and Karl put a 10 per cent deposit on an eight-million-dollar Sydney waterfront mansion in leafy Cremorne. But she and children – Jackson, 17, Ava, 12, and River, 10 – moved into it in June, without the breakfast TV presenter.
‘It’s been a difficult time for her, with Karl’s new romance making headlines,’ a friend said.
Since the separation, 43-year-old Karl’s public displays of affection with his new girlfriend, model and shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough, 33, have often made news.
