Professional snake handler Sean Kade said the hungry snake – which would weigh between five to six kilograms – “could potentially take out a cat or a small dog quite easily”.

“They’re a constrictor, so they’re not venomous but potentially a dangerous snake if someone comes across it, quite a powerful snake,” said Kade.

Kade has reported the missing animal to the Department of Primary Industries.

He also rubbished claims that the photo was staged.

“It’s unlikely because there was actually slide marks on the concrete of the new house,” he added.

“I’m thinking it’s just gone around to try and use the wood as some sort of abrasive material to get the skin off.

“He’s definitely out there somewhere.”
