Video footage obtained by ABC’s 7.30 shows the horrifying moment a former Sydney student drank an iced coffee laced with cyanide.
CCTV cameras show Wayan Mirna Salihin taking a sip of the deadly drink that killed her on January 6.
Jessica Wongso, 27, who lived in Sydney for seven years but moved to Jakarta, is on trial for Salihin’s murder.
Salihin’s husband, Arief Soemarko, told ABC’s 7.30: ‘She’s obviously in pain. Several times she wave[s] her hand at her mouth.
‘I heard that the poison itself it, it’s corrosive and it destroys everything that’s in the way. I heard also that her stomach was destroyed because of the poison.
‘I’m really devastated on how she felt that day.’
Salihin and Wongso met while studying at the Billy Blue Design College in Sydney together several years earlier.
After reconnecting, Wongso reached out to Salihin to meet up at Olivier Restaurant in the Grand Indonesia mall with another friend they went to school with.
Wongso arrived first and ordered her friends favourite drink, a Vietnamese iced tea. The footage shows her surrounding the drink with three bags to obscure the view of the bottle. Soon after she removed the bags and put the drink in the middle of the table.
When Salihin arrived Wongso pushed the drink towards her Minutes after taking a sip, Salihin collapsed.
The Age reports Wongso planned to kill her friend because of some love advice she gave her. Salihin advised Wongso to break up with her then boyfriend as he was a ‘drug dealer’.
Wongso eventually did end the relationship and prosecutors claim in order ‘to avenge her pain, the defendant planned to take away Mirna’s life.’
