They were the golden couple of the early 90’s.
But for Australian TV presenter Cameron Daddo and DOLLY cover girl Alison Brahe things weren’t as perfect as they seemed.
Speaking to Mia Freedman on her No Filter podcast, the father-of-three spoke candidly about the pair’s financial difficulties following their move to Hollywood to further his acting career.
“It got very tense for a while on several occasions,” the 52-year-old said.
“Then something would open up and suddenly you forget there was a moment where we had $100 in the bank because now we’re doing OK.”
While he landed a myriad of small TV roles over the next two decades, the game show host admitted that it became increasingly tough to support his growing family.
“Through the nineties through TV I was one to three on call sheets [in order of importance of the characters] a lot of the time,” he explained.
“Then through a series of crazy events, actors’ strikes, writers’ strikes and the GFC later on, things changed.”
He added: “If you’re going to choose the entertainment business, you’ve got to do it because you love it and that’s all you want to do because otherwise it’s too hard.”
This isn’t the first time the famous family have opened up about their struggle to make ends meet.
Just last month, Alison told Stellar magazine that friends would leave groceries on the doorstep just so they could feed their children.
“Cam still deals with feeling, you know, a lot of angst or shame around that,” she confessed.
“There was a lot to be learnt.”
In 2016, Cameron and Alison returned to Aussie soil and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
