Gorgeous, perfectly-styled hair is the dream. But that can take a solid 30 minutes or so. Accordingly, racing out the door with frizz and flyaways is more likely to be the reality. At least, for many of us.
That’s why we have collected a handful of clever tips and tricks that will help you to create sleek, chic locks and in very little time at all.
Trick Number One
It’s an oldie, but a goody – the ponytail. Smooth your hair back at the front with your hands and pull your locks into an elastic. It’s that simple really. Add a little hairspray and give a blast of heat from a hairdryer for 30 seconds to help it hold.
If you’ve got an extra few minutes, stylist Richard Kavanagh recommends you pull a small piece of hair from the centre of the ponytail, wrap it tight around the base to cover the elastic. Add a touch of hairspray here too.
Maybe add a comb. We love Review Ever After Hair Comb, $29.99.

Trick Number Two
Add an accessory for a touch of sparkle. This can be a barrette or clip if you want to wear your hair out, or headband.
If you’re wearing your hair pulled back into a ponytail add a scarf or even a scrunchie. Yes – they’re back!
We like Hepburn & Co Gold Ring Black Bow Ponytail, $14.95.

Trick Number Three
You will have heard of dry shampoo but did you know you can apply it the night before and save even more time in the morning. Doing it the night before means it will be working over time to absorb grease and after you’ve slept on it, will result in a cool tousled texture.
