Every night, grief stricken Melissa Bell sleeps with the ghost of her adored husband. His clothes are still in the wardrobe and he sits down for dinner with his family every night.
Although Gary Dickinson breathed his last in Melissa’s adoring arms on February 13, the Neighbours star believes he will be beside her forever.
‘He’s everywhere in the house and I do still sleep with him,’ says the mother-of-four, brushing away tears. ‘I will always be Gary’s wife. I made a promise to him as he was dying that we will be married forever.’
Today, sad Melissa has turned the couple’s Gold Coast home into a shrine, lovingly tended by her and their kids Jonathan, 15, Isabella, 12, and William eight.
A giant portrait of Gary dominates the living room, with candles and treasured possessions – his wedding ring and watch – surrounding his ashes.
