The fear came about after a conversation about their family ties, during which they discovered they shared the same heritage.

The topic of family surnames made them realise they could be related.

Adam informed Cartier that his surname was Farrugia, which left Cartier in shock as she realised it was her grandmother’s maiden name.

“Stop! Farrugia? That’s my grandma’s last name because I’m half Maltese,” Cartier exclaimed.

“We’re probably brothers and sisters!” Adam responded, prompting her to laugh.

“I’m going to have check the family tree, can I please get one?” Adam said into his microphone.

“I’m going to need a family tree before I continue.”

All jokes aside, Adam later admitted he would like to get to know Cartier better.

“Yeah, she’s like a really nice girl. She’s really reserved. Completely different. Completely opposite to me,” Adam said in the Beach Hut.

“Cartier might ground me just because like we’re so opposite. I don’t know. It’s only early stages. It’s only early days.”

However, Cartier had already expressed interest in Adam earlier in the episode.

“Adam is surprising me every day. His banter has drawn me to him. I love the sense of humour,” the 19-year-old said.

In other news, it was recently revealed that Vanessa Sierra and Adam Farrugia also knew each other before the show.

Earlier this week, video footage emerged of the two dining together at a restaurant in May.

While the two weren’t alone, they seemed to be part of the same circle of friends.
