Move over Posh, Becks and Kylie because Lleyton and Bec Hewitt are being eyed for the world’s next superstar docuseries subjects.

While reports of a multimillion-dollar deal are gathering momentum behind the scenes, they’re also allegedly creating tension between the couple.

New Idea hears that when Lleyton first floated the idea by his wife, the producers’ pitch was a multi-episode docuseries that would largely focus on him and the highs and lows of his extraordinary tennis career.

However, bosses are now eager to tell Bec’s side of the story – and she’s not completely in favour of their request!

“Everyone saw what happened with the Beckhams,” explains our entertainment insider. “People thought they knew their story, but audiences were fascinated by the reality behind the headlines.”

“Producers don’t want it to just be about tennis. The real story is the family. Bec and Lleyton have spent years protecting their privacy – which is exactly why viewers would be so interested.”

Apparently, producers are especially eager to have Bec, 43, talk about her decision to walk away from her thriving television career at the height of her fame.

After becoming a household name on Home and Away, which she parlayed into a short-lived pop career, Bec largely stepped back from the spotlight to raise the couple’s three children – Mia, 20, Cruz, 17, and Ava, 15 – while travelling the world supporting Lleyton, 45, during his gruelling international tennis schedule.

And insiders suggest that’s exactly where the biggest hurdle remains.

“Bec isn’t desperate to relive all of it,” reveals a source close to the situation.

“She made enormous sacrifices for the sake of her family. She’s proud of the life they’ve built, but she’s never been someone who enjoys putting everything on display.”

While Lleyton is said to be open to celebrating his career and family legacy, Bec is understood to be far more cautious about allowing cameras into their private world.

“At first, Bec was open to the idea but, as discussions progressed, she realised just how much of the documentary would end up focusing on her,” the insider explains.

“The original pitch was that it would centre on Lleyton’s career, his legacy and their family life, and she was comfortable with that.

“But once it became clear producers also wanted to explore her own career and personal life, she wasn’t prepared to go there.

“She felt the project had shifted from what was initially presented,” our source continues.

“She’s now more reluctant than ever to be involved in any documentary.”
