In Australia we’re still reeling in the glow of WHO’s Sexiest People issue featuring the likes of Julie Bishop and the ever-handsome Dr Chris Brown.
But across the pond PEOPLE magazine have crowned their new Sexiest Man… A big boisterous drum roll for Idris Elba.
The British star was confirmed as 2018’s sexiest man – and he is shocked.
“I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?’” the actor told PEOPLE .
“Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.”
The 46-year-old told his fans, “Who’d have thought it! Thank you @people & all the fans for naming me #SexiestManAlive.”
“I’m honoured & thankful.”
Showing why he deserves the title, he turned his attention onto the political climate, urging everyone, “But what’s even more important is your vote in the midterm elections. Your vote can make a difference!”
Elba, who happens to have the title of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to drama, became a household name from his role on The Wire before finding international stardom in Hollywood blockbusters like the Thor franchise…
And then there is the continuous rumours that he’s pipped to the next Bond… James Bond that is.
It’s safe to say we’re all a little shaken, not stirred, with joy over Elba’s newest credential.
