Hollywood star Matt Damon is a beloved American actor and film producer best known for his role in iconic movies such as Good Will Hunting, The Martian, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and more recently, Oppenheimer.
However, apart from his impressive career, the 53-year-old lives a very happy life with his wife of nearly twenty years and his four children.
Who is Matt Damon’s wife?
Matt met his Argentinian wife Luciana Barroso (now Damon) in 2003 at a bar she was working at in Miami at the time, and connected instantly. “I literally saw her across a crowded room, literally,” Matt recalled during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Two years later, the two tied the knot and the two went on the start a family together. When Matt and Luciana met, she was a single mum, raising her daughter Alexia on her own.
“We definitely had a connection right away, it was so easy to talk to each other, we were very comfortable [with each other], and by the end of the night, he invited me to go out with his friends,” she previously told Vogue Australia.
“But I was like, ‘I can’t, I have a four-year-old daughter, I’m not going anywhere’ … and that was one of the things he loved, that I had a daughter.”
How many children does Matt Damon have?
Matt has four children – his step daughter Alexia, Luciana’s first child from her previous marriage, as well as the three daughters they welcomed following their 2005 marriage. The four girls, Aleixa, Isabella, Gia and Stella tend to stay out of the spotlight as much as they can.
However, in July 2024, the whole family stepped out at the premier of his latest film, The Instigators.

Alexia Barroso
Alexia was born in Argentina in 1999 to Luciana and her then-husband Arbello Barroso. Matt officially became Alexia’s stepfather after he and Luciana tied the knot – the two have developed quite the father-faughter bond over the years.
Alexia, now 25, has even appeared in a movie with Matt, appearing as a member of the zoo staff in the 2009 film We Bought a Zoo.
Isabella Damon
Matt and Luciana welcomed their first child together, Isabella, in June 11, 2006. Being Matt’s first biological child, the birth of Isabella changed a lot for the Hollywood actor.
“I really used to have no life outside movies. I’d work all day, go to the gym and go to sleep,” he told UK’s Sunday Express when Isabella was one. “Now I have a place to be so I come home after work.”
Now 18, Matt has revealed Isabella is “one of the funniest people [he’s] ever met,” and like any other teenager, loves to give her dad grief, especially when it comes to his not so popular movies.
“If the reviews come out and they’re terrible, then she’ll watch it,” Matt told E! News in 2021. “If they come out and they’re good, she’s going to pass … She’s looking for ammunition all the time.”
Gia Damon
Matt and Lucinda’s second child Gia was born on August 20, 2008. Gia is now 16, but since she was young, she and her sisters have been joining Matt as he travels for various jobs.
When Matt was filming in Africa for the film Invictus, the family also tagged along and the they all got to opportunity to meet Nelson Mandela. “Isabella and Gia couldn’t take their eyes off him,” Matt recalled in a past interview. “They just were looking at each other, completely locked on each other the entire time.”
Stella Damon
Stella is the youngest of the family – born on October 20, 2010 The birth of Stella, who is now 13, meant Matt was well and truly outnumbered by women in the family.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Matt revealed that becoming a family of six took “a little getting used to”.
“The baby came a couple of weeks early. It’s our fourth, so we’ve done it before — but it’s a whole new dynamic,” he said.
“After a week you go, ‘Wait a minute! We have to figure out a plan here.’ The girls … all require different things.”
