The Marine One helicopter reportedly left scorch marks as well as craters in the grass.

An insider close to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison – who was also in attendance for  D-Day commemorations – says the Queen expressed her annoyance.

“He had got off the plane and went straight to the palace to see the Queen, who led him out to the gardens and said: ‘Come and look at my lawn. It’s ruined.’”

Mr Trump and the First Lady were greeted by the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall as they stepped from the Marine One helicopter in the grounds of Buckingham palace shortly after midday on June 3.

On the first day of Trump’s visit, the controversial billionaire-turned-politician was feted with a ceremonial welcome and a grand state banquet at Buckingham Palace during his stay in London, where the leader of the United States and Queen Elizabeth shared many happy-looking conversations.

Donald Trump also sat next to Queen Elizabeth II at the D-Day commemorations at Southsea Common in Portsmouth on Wednesday.
