One of Meghan Markle’s best friends, makeup artist Daniel Martin, has joined the scores of celebrities offering their congratulations to the royal couple who just became first time parents to a baby boy.
And he’s taking his excitement one step further, by letting everyone know that he is Baby Sussex’s ‘proud gay uncle.’

The talented makeup artist – who did Meghan’s makeup for her wedding to Harry – reposted the blue ‘It’s a boy!’ graphic, from the Duke and Duchess’s Instagram Sussex Royal account, captioning the image: “Proud #guncle”
‘Guncle’ is a term that means gay uncle – and Daniel is clearly excited at the news that the royal baby is finally here, and he’ll get to hang out with the new family!
Daniel and Meghan have been friends for years. They worked together on her lifestyle blog, The Tig, before she shut the site when things became serious with Prince Harry.
Daniel who is a strong supporter of Meghan, says he first met the Duchess “a little under a decade ago when Suits got picked up,” which was the TV series that made her famous.
“When I met her, it was just an instant connection,” he told Into The Gloss.
“I knew what she wanted—it was one of those things where, she looked at herself in the mirror and was like, ‘Oh my God, this is what I always wanted, but I didn’t know how to get there.’ From that experience, we just kept in touch,” he told Into the Gloss.
Daniel first posted about his excitement for Meghan and Harry in December 2018, not long after the Duke and Duchess announced their pregnancy, when he captioned a photograph of Meghan at the 2018 Fashion Awards: “I’m gonna be a #guncle”.
With Meghan’s Hollywood past, it’s likely that Baby Sussex will be surrounded by the couple’s diverse friendship group, with George and Amal Clooney even tipped to become godparents to the young royal.
