The news of the family's secret getaway was later confirmed to the publication by Palace spokespeople, also revealing that the former monarch Queen Margrethe will act as head of state until they return.
On January 14, 2024, the Queen stepped down from her position as Queen of Denmark and entrusted the throne to Frederik and Mary, however, she has retained her title since.
Queen Margrethe, 83, will spend her Easter holiday at Marselisborg Castle in Aarhus.
Although the destination of their trip hasn't been confirmed, it is understood the holiday will take them out of Denmark.
The King and Queen have been very busy since their proclamation.

King Frederik has always been open about how important it is to take time to rest.
The monarch wrote in his book Kongeord [The King's word]: "Timeouts are important because we will probably have even more to do."
"Mary and I have areas of interest that will increasingly require our presence in very different forums here at home and abroad."
Queen Margrethe was also left in charge of Denmark while they were away previously.
The two took a two-week ski break which was said to be a way to "put their marriage on track," according to a royal source.
The source previously spoke to New Idea about their getaway: "It's not unusual for Mary and Frederik to have a winter vacation, but this time they extended it because they had a lot to discuss," they said.
