Hit sitcom reboot Roseanne has been cancelled after the show’s star, Roseanne Barr, sent out a series of racist tweets.
Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, said in a statement, ‘Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.’

In a now deleted tweet, Barr said that White House aide Valerie Jarrett looked like a combination of ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ and ‘Planet of the Apes’.
Viewers were quick to call out her tweets, and the sitcom star responded, ‘Muslims are NOT a race.’
Roseanne later wrote, ‘I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.’
A string of celebrities have since taken to the social media platform to vent their frustration and outrage at the insensitivity of Roseanne’s tweets – including Roseanne cast member Sara Gilbert.
Roseanne has been cancelled effective immediately.
Channel Ten has also decided to remove Roseanne from all it’s channels including TEN and ELEVEN.
‘Network Ten is appalled and disgusted with Ms Barr’s racist tweet and has removed Roseanne from TEN and ELEVEN, effective immediately,’ they said in a statement.
