A major American publication has sensationally detailed an alleged plan to snatch the young royal

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge are reportedly reeling over a terrifying plot to kidnap their son, Prince George, according to bombshell allegations published in the United States.

A National Enquirer cover story sensationally claims the four-year-old future king was targeted by terrorists who planned to hold him for a $50million [AUD $64million] ransom.

Citing anonymous sources, the publication claims the extremists had been stopped in their tracks by Scotland Yard detectives.

“This is as real as it gets!” a purported Royal insider is quoted as telling the Enquirer, adding, “It could have been the biggest disaster in the history of the monarchy. For Prince William and his wife, it must be a living hell!”

Providing details of the plot, the source said, “According to the information, which is being kept from the public, a small terrorist cell spent weeks hatching a plan to snatch George, either at school or on the 3.5-mile car ride to or from his family’s home in Kensington Palace.”

According to the publication, police are said to have foiled the attempt after a tip-off.

The alleged scare is said to have terrified Duchess Kate, who wants to move from their current residence to the more secure surroundings of their country home in Norfolk.

The magazine’s source further claimed, “Kate screamed at William, ‘We can’t put our children’s lives at risk for anything – or anyone! Not even to help Her Majesty!’”

Buckingham Palace has yet to comment on the Enquirer’s sensational claims.
