In an unbearably tragic turn of events, parents Julia and Peter Roberts have experienced the devastation of losing their two young sons in separate accidents just weeks apart.
The family was already left heartbroken when two-year-old son William drowned seven weeks ago, after wandering off while the family were working in their yard. After a 12-hour search, police found his little body face down in a creek behind the family’s home.
Then, just five weeks later, William’s six-year-old brother Ayden was killed in a car accident, when the car driven by his father Peter veered into a ditch, before over-correcting and swerving into oncoming traffic, tearing the car in two.
The boys’ heartbroken mother Julia told Inside Edition, ‘I don’t know what to do from here,’ adding her husband Peter was ‘not handling any of it at all’, blaming himself for Ayden’s death.
Describing her sons as ‘best friends’, a grief stricken Julia says Ayden tried to comfort her in the weeks following William’s death as best he could.
‘He tried to cheer me up most of the time. He was such a sweet boy. Last week, I was crying and he said, “Mummy, don’t cry”.’
Our hearts go out to the family at this time of incredible sadness.
