Operation Grange, the task force set up by the Metropolitan police to find Madeliene, has so far exhausted $21 million in funds, according to the Home Office, a number that drew some criticism from the British public.

The Madeleine McCann case was recently the subject of Netflix documentary, The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann, which claims Maddie is still alive.

The series focuses on the theory that human traffickers snatched the blonde-haired, blue-eyed tot and brought her overseas for sale.

The documentary, which is split into eight parts, features 40 experts including investigators and senior officials including the UK’s leading child protection Jim Gamble.

Gamble believes the mystery will be solved within his lifetime and is seen telling the camera: “We will find out what happened to Madeleine McCann.
