Police are investigating the death of an Australian mother of five at a holiday villa in Bali, claiming they suspect she drank more than a bottle of vodka.

The victim, who has been identified as Summa Jean Simmons, 38, from Cairns, Qld, was believed to be on holiday with her sister and a friend at Peppers Seminyak.

While a post mortem is yet to be conducted, police say the women were drinking vodka at their villa at around 9pm on Sunday – with unconfirmed published claims Ms Simmons had about 21 glasses of vodka followed by a further six glasses later in the evening.

That, however, is been angrily disputed. According to the Herald Sun, a family member said Ms Simmons wasn’t a heavy drinker and must have suffered a reaction.

Later that night, it’s alleged Ms Simmons went back to her own villa to get her wallet, but began vomiting and collapsed.

‘The victim fainted, was unconscious, and her pulse became weak. The victim’s face and lips turned blue,’ Badung Police Precinct Chief, Budi Setiawan said.

Her friends gave her CPR before a doctor was called.

Superintendent Budi said that when a doctor arrived just after midnight, Ms Simmons was pronounced dead. Investigations are continuing.
