Australia has never really gotten over the brazen 1973 kidnapping of Adelaide children Joanne Ratcliffe, 11 and Kirste Gordon, 4, from Adelaide Oval. But if the broader community was deeply scarred, imagine the ongoing pain suffered by the families of the girls – who were last seen looking distressed in the company of an unknown man, and whose bodies have never been found.
Joanne’s sister Suzanne has never given up trying to find justice for the two little girls, who went missing during a visit to the bathroom at a family-friendly footy game. While there has long been suspicion the case may be linked to the 1966 disappearance of the Beaumont children, there have been no convincing leads since witnesses described the girls leaving the oval, seemingly against their will, in the company of the mysterious man.
Despite the passage of so much time, Suzanne remains convinced that even a tiny, seemingly trivial piece of information could finally lead to a breakthrough. And she is begging potential sources of information to step up now.
